Power flushing is a method of clensing the central heating system to help return it to optimal performance. Central heating systems over time can aquire a build-up of sludge and other deposits which can reduce the efficiency and cause a noticable boiler noise. Powerflushing is recommended when replacing a boiler on an older sytem and may also be a requirement of boiler manufacturers as an integral part of the guarantee.
The process involves adding a chemical to the heating system and forcing water through the system using the unit which is connected directly to a radiator or pump couplings. This dislodges the debris and at the end of the process the heating system contains clean fresh water.
Powerflushing will not cure mechanical issues or failure but it will improve the efficiency of the system and in turn should reduce the fuel costs associated with running a central heating system.
